Since June 2008 a volunteer design team have investigated many inspiring options and their research was presented to Orgyen Tobgyal Rinpoche (pictured left) during his visit in May 2009.

Orgyen Tobgyal Rinpoche is a uniquely qualified Tibetan master who has supervised numerous Temple projects. Using the ancient art of geomancy and following the advice laid down in traditional texts.

During a very special 3 days, Orgyen Tobgyal guided the building design and detail, so we can integrate the most authentic Tibetan tradition with the best and most appropriate of modern techniques. He also gave advice on the exact site and orientation for the Temple.

On 8 July 2010, during the annual visit of Sogyal Rinpoche to Dzogchen Beara, we received full planning permission, on the first application, from Cork County Council.

Then, on 1 September 2010 Orgyen Tobgyal Rinpoche returned to consecrate the Temple site - so we are now free to begin building the most special meditation venue in Ireland - and possibly the world!

The timeline: we have full planning permission and the site is prepared. Temple Project Ireland is poised to commence!  The team are confident that once we have raised €500,000, and shown that a new Meditation Centre at Dzogchen Beara is an aspiration shared by thousands of people, then major donors and funding organisations that we have presented the project to will match-fund our total.

We hope to begin in 2012, and construction will take approximately 18months.
