The planting of this temple is yet another evolutionary step in the development of Dzogchen Beara and Rigpa in Ireland – and probably the most important one. This is the heart of what we do! It is a symbol that this lineage and this tradition is taking root in Ireland – it is here to stay! Creating A Spiritual Environment
"Let the sky outside awake a sky inside your mind."| Sogyal RinpocheMore than at any other time, the western world is now acutely aware of the terrible tragedy that overtook Tibet in 1959, forcing more than 100,000 people into exile. Out of that great tragedy came Tibet’s great gift for the world, its wisdom: those inner sciences which were nourished, practised and experienced to the exclusion of almost any other field of enquiry for over 1,200years. Among the exiles were a number of Buddhist masters, the last holders of that wisdom, coming from a lineage which stretches back over two and a half millennia to the Buddha himself. With more than thirty years’ experience of teaching in the west, Sogyal Rinpoche, author of The Tibetan Book of Living and Dying, is renowned for his ability to present the Buddhist teachings in a way that is completely relevant to modern men and women of all faiths, by drawing out their universal message while losing none of their authenticity, purity and power. These teachings have the power to transform those who hear and practice them, giving them the opportunity to bring about a deep shift and change in the way they live their lives.
The greatest challenge that spiritual teachings such as Buddhism face in this transition from their ancient settings to the West is how, in a turbulent fast-paced, and restless world, students of these teachings can find ways to practice them with the calm and steady consistency that they require for the realisation of their truth to be possible. spiritual training, after all, is the highest and in some ways the most demanding form of education, and it must be followed with the same dedicated and systematic application as any other kind of serious training…
Creating the right spiritual environment is crucial to inspire and nurture people as they seek to integrate the teachings into every corner of their existence. …The main question for the future of the teaching in the modern world is how those who are following the teachings can be helped and inspired to find the right inner and outer environment in which to fully practice them, follow them through, and come to realise and embody their heart essence. | Sogyal Rinpoche, 'The Tibetan Book of Living and Dying' How will the Temple look?
